I remember, as a little boy, being afraid my father would be killed in Vietnam.

I remember being afraid my brother would die in a tank in Desert Storm.

I remember being afraid when thousands died as planes slammed into the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

I will remember being afraid as an angry mob stormed Congress, trashed the halls of democracy, and threatened the freedoms of our nation.

I remember a lot of things I wish had never happened.

The bottom line is our country is an angry place filled with racial tension, poverty, needless COVID deaths, politicians who are nothing more than prostitutes of ambition, hunger, greed, people who refuse to wear masks even if it means saving someone’s life, and those who are afraid of what the future may hold.

Right now our country is an ugly place.  But there is an answer.  And while this is exactly what someone would expect a pastor to say, I believe it with all my heart.

After Solomon had dedicated the Temple, God appeared to him and said, “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”  (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The answer to the lunacy we are living in, is to turn back to the only One who can bring true peace, reconciliation, and healing to a country that is being torn apart by sin.  God is the only solution.

So, this morning, in the midst of watching the endless news cycle, getting ready to take the kids to school, and rushing to work, take a moment to say a prayer asking God to heal both our individual and national brokenness.

God is very clear.  If we turn to God, our land will be healed.  There is no other way.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, please intervene in this nation.  Help us to put you first in every aspect of life.  Heal our land.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Yesterday was one of the worst days our nation has ever faced.  We can get past it and move into the future that God has planned but it will only happened if we put God at the forefront of our thoughts, words, and actions.  Then, our land will be healed and blessed.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
