Throughout the years, I’ve become conditioned to do whatever the women in my life tell me to do. It just makes life easier, less painful, and I don’t cry as much.
A few weeks ago, Margaret and Adrian told me it was time to publish another book of Daily Devotionals. I immediately agreed because I am afraid of them.
Yesterday, we met in my office to select the theme, design, discuss editing, and figure out pricing.
When it came to discussing what picture would be on the cover, Margaret and Adrian thought something holy would be appropriate, but I explained a giant picture of my face on the cover would make the book sell even faster and bring many people joy.
At that moment, Margaret turned as pale as a ghost and began to wipe tears from her eyes while Adrian made a strange gagging sound and said, “I’m sorry, I just vomited in my mouth a little bit.” This got me thinking.
While it is clear Margaret and Adrian do not appreciate my face as much as I do, their bizarre reactions to having a giant picture of my face on the cover of the book made me question my judgment. I have always considered my extraordinarily good looks as one of my greatest gifts.
Did you know you too have an extraordinary gift? And while your gift may not be having the perfect facial bone structure that I have, your gift matters because God gave it to you and expects you to use it for His purpose.
This is why Peter said, “Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received.” (1 Peter 4:10)
So figure out your gift and start using it. That’s why God made you.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, help me discern the gift you have given me and how you want me to use it. Give me the wisdom, strength, and resolve to follow your wishes. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
God made you with a unique gift. In order to truly be the person you were created to be, you must use it. I pray you do.
Also, this coming Lent, Margaret and Adrian will ensure we have a new book of Daily Devotionals for you to read. Buy a bunch of them and know the monies will benefit our children’s program ministries.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
