Daily Devotional for March 22, 2023

A few nights ago, Shannon jokingly said that even though our wedding anniversary isn’t until June, it will be our silver anniversary and I better start working her gift.

I explained she is getting a new hip tomorrow and that counted.  She said, “The hip is made of titanium, not silver.”  So, now I am back to square one.

It is hard to believe we will have been married 25 years.

I know I sound old for saying this but, where has the time gone?  It seems like only yesterday we were young adults in love.  Now we are old adults in love.

As the old saying goes, “Time waits for no man.”

There are some things in life that are inevitable such as the passage of time, taxes, change, and getting old.

Each of us has an allotted amount of time on this earth and once it’s used up, that’s it.

How are you using your time?  Are you really using your time wisely to make this broken world a better place or are you squandering the precious time God has given you?

I have to admit there are too many times when I waste this precious resource I will never get back.

The oldest psalm in the Book of Psalms was written by Moses by the year 1440 BC.  It is the only psalm attributed to Moses.  In this ancient prayer, Moses spoke these wise words, Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

Today you have 86,440 seconds.  It sounds like a lot.  It will fly by and then those seconds will be lost forever.  Use them wisely.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, please help me use my limited time to bring light where there is darkness, peace where there is anger, and hope where there is despair.  Use me for your purpose.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

In the blink of an eye, Shannon and I went from celebrating a paper wedding anniversary to a silver anniversary.  The time flew by.

Just for the record, it’s been the best 25 years of my life.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
