Daily Devotional for March 14, 2023

Random observations from last Sunday.

*I saw Dee in the foyer.  I said, “Dee, you need to go to Sunday school.”  Dee said, “Can’t.  It burns.”

If anyone needs to be burned in Sunday school, it’s Dee.

*I used a clock in the Children’s Time to talk about the time change.

After the worship service, Mike told me he really liked the idea of me having a clock close by when I am preaching.”

I excommunicated him.  Don’t get me wrong.  I still want Kathy to come to church – but by herself.

*As I left my Sunday school class, I ran into Clara, Lyla, and William.  They were on a mission.

Even though they told me their parents had fed them breakfast, Lyla was dying of hunger.

As she started gnawing on the counter, I led her to the donuts.  The day was saved.

*During the Children’s Time, Harlow assured me her earrings had not fallen out when she was asleep.

I was very relieved.

*Prior to the second worship service, the Giebler’s were filling out their check for the offering.

Being the caring pastor I am, I volunteered to fill it out for them.

They didn’t think that was a good idea.  I didn’t get it.

*When Buzz called for the ushers to come forward to receive the offering, up walked a sheriff’s deputy, a pilot, an attorney, and a surgeon.

They are a rough crew, but I would trust them with anything.

The bottom line is our church is filled with joy, laughter, and love.  I am sure God approves.

Paul said, “Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God’s very own family, citizens of God’s country, and you belong in God’s household with every other Christian.”  (Ephesians 2:19)

By virtue of following Jesus Christ, you are part of a large family.  That’s a good thing.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, thank you for the loving people who follow you.  Help me bring others into your family.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Next Sunday is coming.  I cannot wait to see God’s family again.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
