Mike is the chair of our finance committee. He spends a lot of time in Pete’s office.
Last week, Mike was in Pete’s office while Nella visited with Ellie in the foyer of Dennis Hall.
As I walked by, I said, “Nella, it’s good to see you. You still married?” Nella laughed and said, “Mike hasn’t kicked me out yet.” Just then Mike called out, “She usually says it’s still early.”
Both Mike and Nella have life figured out. God first, have a good sense of humor, and never take yourself too seriously.
The wisest of all people said, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
Today try to find a reason to laugh. Don’t take life so seriously that you suck all the joy and celebration out of the day because no matter what we face, we have a good God and, in the end, God wins.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, allow me to bring a smile and laughter to someone who is carrying a heavy burden. Help me bring your joy to a joyless world. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Having a sense of humor is an indispensable part of being a Christian.
If that’s true, then my congregation is the most Christian congregation on the planet because they tolerate me as their pastor.
I’m good with that.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
