Daily Devotional for March 24, 2022

Earlier this week, the clouds turned black, the winds howled, and buckets of rain furiously fell at an incredible rate.

As the situation continued to deteriorate, Shannon and I huddled in our hallway, keeping a close eye on weather reports while tornadoes ripped through Texas.

As we sat there, helpless to do anything about the weather, Shannon reminded me of our neighbor’s situation.

One year ago, immediately after closing on their house, a tornado demolished it.

After almost an entire year’s worth of repairs, they were completely whole – just in time for this year’s tornadoes.

Sitting in the hallway reminded me of the unpredictability of life.  It is everywhere.

A couple stands before a pastor and promises to love, honor, and cherish each other, as long as they live, only to struggle with a painful divorce.

A man eats right, exercises daily, and avoids anything that may harm his body, only to be diagnosed with cancer.

A child is raised in a loving, nurturing environment only to self-destruct in the teenage years.

A worker spends an entire career faithfully serving the same company, only to be unexpectedly fired because of budget cuts.

In a life filled with unexpected twists and turns, it is foolish to put our ultimate trust and faith in anything that has the potential to let us down.  So, where do we go?

There’s only one place.

In a world filled with instability and uncertainty there is One who will never let you down.

God will be with you through all the good and bad this life has to offer.  That’s because God, created, redeemed, and loves you more than life itself.

King David said, And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” (Psalm 9:10)

Life is uncertain.  God is not.  Trust God.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, in a world filled with uncertainty, help me to trust you.  I am yours from this moment on.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Place your hand in God’s and let God walk you through eternity.  It’s the best decision you will ever make.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
