Daily Devotional for October 26, 2021

Yesterday, was my wonderful Aunt Linda’s birthday.  When I told Shannon it was Aunt Linda’s birthday, she said, “Oh no!  I forgot to send a birthday card.  I am a horrible person.”

I agreed.

Apparently, this was the one time in our marriage, when Shannon actually wanted me to disagree with her.  I’m so confused.

The only people who say marriage is always easy are those who have never been married.  It takes real work and, in my case, a PhD in Psychology.  Having said that, marriage is awesome.

To know that there is someone who is always there for you gives life a sense of joy and security that can’t be beat.

It’s even more so with God.

Did you know your relationship with God takes real work?  The good news is, while you may need a PhD in Psychology for your marriage, you don’t need one with God.  All you have to do is follow what Jesus said are the most important commandments.

When an attorney asks Jesus which commandment is the most important, he says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’   This is the greatest and first commandment.   And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’   On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)

It’s simple.  To be in a right relationship with God, is to love God with all you’ve got and love others like you love yourself.  That’s all there is too it.

So make the conscious choice to invest in the most important relationship you will ever have.  You will be glad you did.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, I pray my love for you grows deeper and wider every day.  Also, please help me love others as much as I love myself.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

Being in relationship with God takes work but it’s not confusing.  The Bible clearly tell us how do it.

Also, I have finally figured it out.

In order to make my marriage bulletproof, I’ve decided to stop talking.

If I don’t say anything, there’s nothing Shannon can get upset about.

I think we can all agree I am a true relationship genius.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
