Wednesday afternoon, Shannon sent me pictures of our newborn Brahman calf. I was surprised by her color.
Both the bull and cow are gray, but the baby was bright red with a few white spots. This was completely unexpected.
The bull’s name is Winston. The cow’s name is Christmas. That’s because Shannon insists on naming the cows.
I asked Shannon if she had named the new baby. She responded, “Easter.”
Being this close to Easter, the name made sense. Then I remembered her mother’ name and said, “Out of Christmas came Easter.” This got me thinking.
This Sunday we will be celebrating that out of Christmas came Easter – The single most important day in the history of days.
Nothing is better, more important, or more life changing than Jesus walking out of the tomb – not resuscitated or reincarnated. Jesus was resurrected – new life – complete life – true life.
The key to true life, peace, purpose, and meaning is found in the very core of Christian belief. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Out of Christmas came Easter. That’s what we celebrate this Sunday. It will be a great day.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, thank you for sending Jesus to save me. In my moments of weakness, remind me of the price you paid so that I can go home. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Believe God loves you. Believe Jesus walked out of the tomb alive. Believe that God will bring you home. That’s what matters.
Also, just for the record, because Shannon names the cows, it is ridiculously hard to sell them. But I do it anyway. I always assure her they are going to good Christian homes.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
