The worldwide pandemic, huge unemployment numbers, Antifa, Proud Boys, the storming of the Capital, the epic failure of Texas’ electrical grid, riots in Portland, Republicans and Democrats at war with each other, a recall effort in California, a monstrous snow storm in the Rockies, a Saudi prince implicated in a barbaric murder and not held accountable, a governor in New York can’t keep his hands to himself, a broken immigration system, and increasing racial tension are just a few of the many examples that remind me we live in a fallen world.
At times, it makes me very tired. But there is an answer.
In the midst of the chaos of this life, there is a refuge that gives us the strength, support, rest, and the resolve to continue working for God’s will in this broken world.
While I know this is exactly what you would expect a pastor to say, I believe it with all my heart.
The answer to the ills of life revolve around the One who is Life. This Life is the Light that shines into the darkness of our existence. The never-ending catastrophes of our fallen world can never overcome the One sent to save us. (John 1:1-4)
So, if you are tired and need a reprieve, turn to the One who gives peace, security, and comfort in the midst of the storms of life. Let Jesus carry your burden.
This is what Jesus meant by saying, “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
Place your heavy burdens at the feet of the only One who can carry them for you. Only then, can you live your life to its fullest. It’s the smart thing to do.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, in those moments when I feel overwhelmed by the continual challenges of this life, remind me I am not alone. Help me turn loose of my burdens. I humbly ask you use me to lighten someone’s heavy load. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
I once saw a bumper sticker that said, “No Jesus, No Peace — Know Jesus, Know Peace.”
Truer words were never spoken.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
