Many Sundays, after the worship services end, I offer an apology to God for a sermon that should have been better. Yesterday was one of those days.
Then, I got a message from Chris that told me at least one person was able to decipher what I was trying to communicate in a very deficient way. This is what Chris wrote, “Made me think of your sermon series for some reason.”
What follows is a screen shot from Chris’ phone. I hope it means as much to you as it does to me.
“Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.
Obesity is hard. Being fit is hard. Choose your hard.
Being in debt is hard. Being financially disciplined is hard. Choose your hard.
Communication is hard. Not communicating is hard. Choose your hard.
Life will never be easy. It will always be hard.
But we can choose our hard.
Choose wisely.”
Today you will make many choices that impact you and those around you. Make choices to build up, bring peace, heal hurts, and communicate love in a desperate, lonely world.
This is what Paul meant by saying, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)
Your choices matter, so make them count.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, guide my thoughts, words, and actions. Let my choices reflect my love for you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
Life is hard. Choose your hard.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
