Rerun of Daily Devotional January 10, 2017
In looking at my two daughters’ senses of humor, the old saying, “The nut didn’t fall too far from the tree,” comes to mind.
Lindsey sent the following message with the caption, “I thought of you when I saw this.” I am so proud. This is what she sent:
Y’all need to stop with this, “Bread is not good for you” foolishness. Jesus did not say, “I am the broccoli of life.” Nor did He say, “Give us this day our daily kale.” Stop. Jesus is life. Jesus is the bread of life. Bread is life.
I know her message is going to upset the vegetarian/vegan/hippie/yoga crowd, but it’s true. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” (John 6:35)
What Jesus is talking about has nothing to do satiating the momentary hunger and thirst that each of us experience. He’s talking about giving us a full complete life, not just in the world to come, but today.
Accept Jesus into your heart and eat the Bread of Life. You will never regret it.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, thank you for loving me enough to send Jesus to save my life. Fill me with your joy, peace, and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
If accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is best described as eating the Bread of life, then rejecting Jesus is eating the Brussels sprouts of life. No one wants that.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
