The sea of life seems to be pretty rough and choppy. Between skyrocketing COVID-19 cases, the unending election drama, our economy teetering on the edge, children and teachers struggling with never imagined educational procedures, and people dealing with inordinate amounts of stress, it feels like the waves are about to swamp the boat and drag us under.
If this describes you, know that you are not alone. The whole world seems to be out of control.
But remember, there is someone who walks on top of the waves. There is someone who has promised to bring peace in the midst of the storms of life. There is someone who will walk with you through the good times and the bad. There is someone who has promised to never leave you alone to navigate these troubled waters. All you have to do is ask.
Does inviting Jesus into your life mean you will not face trouble, pain, or heartache? No. But by relying upon the One that sees death as no impediment, you are placing yourself in the hands of the One who loves you more than life itself. Nothing can defeat, overwhelm, or overcome the One who died on the cross to keep you safe, save your soul, and bring you home. The storms will never triumph over those who have chosen to trust the One.
This is why Paul, who experienced many storms, said, “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans8:38-39)
As you start this new day, you may feel waves splashing against the boat. Choose to trust Jesus to bring you to a safe harbor. He will not let you down. I promise.
Prayer: “Dear Gracious Heavenly God, in those moments when the sea of life is dragging me down, remind me that you are the One that walks on top of troubled waters. Let me hold your hand as you walk me through eternity. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
All God asks is that we trust with all our hearts and let him do the heavy lifting.
It’s the best deal we are ever going to get. I hope you take it.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
