Shannon and I have been on a plant based eating regimen for ten months. Sunday, Shannon posted a before and after picture on facebook. There were many gracious comments.
One person asked if I had started eating Brussels sprouts (which are truly God’s only mistake.) Shannon wrote that she cut them up and fed them to me. I had no idea. To say the least, I am incredibly disappointed in my wife. I am not sure if we should go to couple’s counseling or straight to an attorney.
The bottom line is that everyone will let you down at one time or another. And while you may not have experienced the deep sense of betrayal over unknowingly eating Brussels sprouts, you do know what it is to be let down.
The good news is there is One who will never betray, desert, or let you down. That’s because God is determined to walk you through every moment of this life and then, into eternity.
Put your trust in the only One who will always be there for you. This is what the psalmist meant by writing: “I will declare that your love stands firm forever, that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.” (Psalm 89:2)
God is always an active presence. All God asks is that you trust.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, help me always remember to trust in you above all else. Give me the confidence, wisdom, and grace to face whatever this day brings. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
I hope you never know what it’s like to have a spouse who feeds you Brussels sprouts. But if you do, remember, even in that dark moment God is still here for you. That’s all that really matters.
I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
