Last week, Trent and Vicki came by the church to give me a gift.  It was a print of a cowboy sitting on the porch of his house, reading the Bible to his two daughters.  It is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.  It’s called “Girls and the Gospel.”

It was painted by my all-time favorite artist, Kenneth Wyatt.  Not only is he a great artist, he’s also Methodist, which automatically gets him into heaven.

I think the reason I admire this print so much is because I have two daughters, and if, by the way I lived my life, I helped them form a relationship with Jesus; my life will have been a success.  Their relationship with Jesus will automatically get them into heaven.  That’s what matters most.

Have you ever really thought about what gets you into heaven?

It’s not good works, never cussing, or chewing with your mouth closed.  It’s about believing in the only One who can save.

Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you know me, you will know my Father also.”  (John 14:6-7)

Put your trust in Jesus and live in response to this wonderful love.  You will automatically go to heaven.

Prayer:  Dear Gracious Heavenly God, in a world with so many things competing for my attention and allegiance, remind me that your Son is what matters most.  In Jesus’ name I pray.  Amen.

The way to heaven is belief but, just for the record, giving a lot of money to the church couldn’t  hurt your chances.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
