Mike sent me the worst joke in the history of jokes. It’s great!
A Recent Study of Crow Road Kills in Alberta

A recent government study, has found over 200 dead crows near Calgary, Alberta and there was concern that they may have died from the Avian Flu virus. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and he confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu, to everyone’s relief. However, he was also able to determine that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with large trucks, and only 2% were killed by car impact.

The Provincial Government hired an Ornithological Behaviorist from Toronto to determine the disproportionate percentages for the large truck versus car kills. The Ornithological Behaviorist determined the cause in short order. When crows eat road kill, they always set-up a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. His conclusion was that: The lookout crow could say “Cah,” but could not say, “Truck.”

Now before you groan in disbelief, just know there is a good lesson to be learned about what it is to be a faithful follower of Christ. Sometimes warnings aren’t easy to understand. So let me define the clearest warning in scripture.

God says, “You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God…” (Exodus 20:4-5)

For most of us, modern-day idols don’t come in the form of a golden calf, but they are just as real.

Idols can be material possessions, power, influence, family, fame, country, education, career ambitions, sports teams; the list goes on and on…

Whatever is more important than God is the idol we bow down to. God warns against this destructive attitude.

So what’s your idol? Whatever it is, get rid of it and put God in the right place. The Bible is very clear.

Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, in those times when I am tempted to put something in your place, give me the wisdom and faith to put you first. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Put God first. Also, I ask that you pray for Mike. His sense of humor is as bad as mine.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
