Rerun of Daily Devotional February 28, 2015
A friend in the church sent this to me earlier in the week. I hope it gives you the same joy it gave me.
“I was getting ready for bed last night at 11, filling our cups with ice water for our night stands next to our bed, when Emily appeared next to me with a very sleepy smile to ask how I was. I asked if she had fun at Tae Kwon Do when she proudly informed me that her little sister had been awarded her white belt and that was great fun for both of them. She then asked if I had had fun and I said “Yes, I was at a church finance committee meeting,” to which she immediately replied “Oh, Grandad, that doesn’t sound like fun to me.”
I said “OK, what does?” She said “Ice cream covered with chocolate, M&Ms and marshmallows.” I conceded and we went to bed.”
King Solomon showed us the importance of innocent joy when he wrote, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22)
Today be intentional about finding joy. It’s there if you look.
Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, I pray that you fill my heart with joy and thanksgiving. Please use me to bring joy to those who are filled with pain. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen
I pray your day is filled with joy and peace.
