Tonight is Christmas Eve and I am pumped. We have three completely different types of worship services so it’s kind of like chaos on steroids.

There will be kids hopped up on sugar, mothers worried that all the food isn’t cooked, and father’s panicking when they see “Some Assembly Required” on the boxes of their children’s toys. Then, on top of that, there will be the mad rush to make sure everything is done and all the boxes are checked. It can be overwhelming.

But as you do everything you do in order to celebrate Christmas, remember what this is all about.

God came into this world in the most humble of circumstances. And while the angels sang, shepherds worshiped, and wise men presented gifts, the rest of the world was silent. Two thousand years later, not much has changed.

There are still many people who do not know or understand what tonight is truly about. It’s up to us.

We cannot get so wrapped up in our own celebrations that we forget to let others know why this night is important. Without the manger, there would have been no resurrection. It matters.

God become one of us to save us. We must let the world know.

Isaiah said, “The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.” (Isaiah 11:16)

Tonight it’s about a baby that came to lead us.

Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, please use my words and deeds in such a way, that others come to know your child. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Shannon and I pray that you experience the joy of God’s child.
