For many families, this is the first full week of students returning to school. That means there are a lot of households in complete chaos as parents pack lunches, make sure permission forms are signed, wait in long lines at the school to drop off their children, deal with crying children who don’t want to go to school, check to see that everyone has their backpacks, and that all the children remembered to put on shoes before getting in the car. These are just a few of the many challenges young parents face at the start of a new school year. I remember those days. It’s exhausting.

But it’s not only young parents who have to shift into overdrive. That’s because our calendars revolve around the school year. The time of vacation is in the past. It’s back to work. Recess is over.

So if you suddenly find yourself in a harried, stressful place, remember to do what matters most. Take a deep breath and know that no matter what you face, God has it under control.

This is what God says to us through the prophet Isaiah: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

As you juggle to keep all the balls in the air, know that God will help you. All you have to do is ask.

Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, guide me as I face the challenges of a new day. Help me demonstrate grace, joy, and wisdom in everything I do. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

It’s going to be a good year.

I pray that your day is filled with joy and laughter.
