Friday Rerun from October 5, 2016

Yesterday morning, I walked into the church office and Lucia said, “You look nice today. You must have a funeral.”

What does that mean?

Luckily, I know Lucia has a heart of gold and would never intentionally say anything hurtful.

This is where King Solomon’s words of wisdom really are helpful: “One who forgives an affront fosters friendship, but one who dwells on disputes will alienate a friend.” (Proverbs 17:9)

Do you ever let little things get under your skin? Don’t do it. Life’s too short to get wrapped around the axle by things that don’t matter.

God wants us to focus on what really matters. It’s the little irritants that have the ability to suck the joy and laughter out of life. That’s not our way.

So the next time Lucia says you look nice because you are going to a funeral, just roll with it.

Prayer: Dear Gracious Heavenly God, fill my heart with joy and love. Help me to focus on what really matters and dismiss those little petty things that don’t. I pray my words, thoughts, and actions bring you happiness. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

And yes, just for the record, Lucia was right. I did have a funeral yesterday. I also looked nice. But then again, I always do.

I pray your day is filled with joy and laughter.
